Weight Watchers PointsPlus Review: Weigh-in & Decision Time

Yesterday morning was my eighth weigh-in during my trial of the Weight Watchers                                PointsPlus program. I have lost 16.1 pounds! Since people on Weight Watchers can expect to lose one to two pounds a week, it looks like the program is really working for me just as it should be!
Given that, you may be surprised to know that I am thinking about changing things up a little:
Weight Watchers offers a version of their program called the Simply Filling Technique. Using this form of the program, I would not track any foods that are considered Weight Watchers Power Foods (things like lean chicken, fruit, light English muffins, certain whole-grain cereals, etc.). I would also be allowed a weekly PointsPlus budget for "splurges" on foods that aren't on the Power Foods list.
Part of me says not to change things since they're working for me as-is. Then the other part of me says it's time to try something really new and take the opportunity to let you all know what the other approach to the program is like!
I am really torn about it and I want you to help me make the decision! Please vote in my poll and let me know what you think I should do: Note: Weight Watchers has provided me with free access to the online version of their program, and other tools, for me to complete my review of the new PointsPlus program. I am in no way being compensated by Weight Watchers.

Are diet and weight loss programs, misleading?

The market is over run with so many new nutrition and weight loss plans; and many are not without some controversy - as seen on television newspapers and magazines. The best choice you can make for your health, is to know about the options.
The word "Diet" relates to what you eat or drink all through the day. A diet that limits parts or excludes certain foods, promotes weight loss over a period of time might not succeed. You miss certain food and find it difficult to follow this type of diet for a long time. It is often better to slowly change, eat the types and quantities of foods, and preserve these changes for the rest of your life. The perfect diet for one person is to know know your likes and dislikes for certain foods, but also include a wide range of foods with enough calories and nutrients for your well-being.
A key role in how much you weigh is what you eat and how much play. So, if you set up your diet, you should maintian a calorie level that is appropriate, eat food that is nutritionally balanced, and be practical and easy to follow. You can manage this diet plan for the rest of your life.
The health industry agree that adults can benefit from weight loss if you are moderatelt to heavily overweight.  Some weight related health problems include diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or high blood sugar levels. Even a small weight loss up to 20 pounds can improve your health, for example, by lowering your blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
You don't need to lose weight, when your weight is in the healthy range at the weight for height, or have added less than 10 pounds since you reached your full height, and are otherwise healthy. Your body weight controls the number of calories you eat and the number of calories you burn each day. Take in less calories than you use and you might lose weight. To help you eat less and be more physically active, a weight loss.
program can help you maintain the right calories intake and help burn fat by creating changes in your physical activity and eating habits. This is something you can follow for the rest of your life.
You need to find the best weight loss program that suits your lifestyle.

Lose Weight With NLP

With the vast array of diets on the market these days, you probably feel like you've seen it all.
However, "losing weight with NLP" is likely to be something a little different from the norm.
The original founders of NLP, or Neuro-linguistic Programming, Richard Bandler and John Grinder, claimed that,
NLP would be instrumental in "finding ways to help people have better, fuller and richer lives". They coined the term "Neuro-Linguistic Programming" to denote their belief in a connection between neurological processes ("neuro"), language ("linguistic") and behavioral patterns that have been learned through experience ("programming"), and can be organized to achieve specific goals in life. Source
And this book, Lose Weight with NLP, by Lindsey Agness, focuses on changing our relationship with food, so that we can "lose weight effortlessly."
While I am a bit sceptical when it comes to claims like this, having received a copy of the book, I was pleasantly surprised by its approach.
It seems that many of the diet books available these days, leave out an integral part, that is, focusing on our difficult relationships with food, and how to change that. This book covers it pretty well.
Some of the topics covered in the book include, how to stop dieting and start living, understanding your emotions, how to reprogram your brain, and how to banish food cravings.
But, if you're after a specific, step-by-step diet and exercise plan, this book isn't for you. And although is does include a few chapters covering diet and exercise, that isn't the main theme.
This book is all about what you "focus" on, and how this can impact the ability to reach your weight loss goals. According to Agness, by focusing on what you don't what -- "I don't want to be fat" -- you keep getting exactly what you didn't want. I think there is a huge amount of truth in that.
How to Use This Book
To get the most out of Lose Weight With NLP, use it like a workbook. There is a lot of space for writing down your own thoughts and goals, and this will undoubtedly help with becoming more focused.
I certainly wouldn't ascribe to everything in this book, but overall it's a useful guide. You can purchase it from Amazon for $14.

Let's start weighing the facts, by first looking at the good side of the addition of these weight loss, and then the risks in the final end.

Benefits of Green tea on metabolism

A powerful antioxidant called polyphenols found in green tea is known to be responsible for many of the benefits of tea.The antioxidant can stimulate the body fuel combustion process and releasing heat energy as research has shown that green tea increases energy costs or boost the metabolism of a 24-hour period, recorded increases the metabolic rate to 4%. Benefits of green tea to fat absorption

Green tea has three basic components that can promote fat loss; these elements are catechins, caffeine and theanine which would prevent gastrikoys and pancreatic lipase, enzymes that digest and store fat in a form that is healthy for the body.Drinking green tea, after a meal can slow down the increase of blood sugar and does not allow the storage of fat in the body.

Starts the countdown calories on your morning brew and guess what you find. Double cream, sugar, coffee, double frappucinno, etc cause havoc on your waistline. Does Lunch At Your PC Make Your Eat More?

If you eat lunch parked in front of your computer every day, you need to know that this habit may be boosting your appetite. Most of us know the advice to avoid eating in front of the TV or computer, but many completely ignore that message.

Well, a recent small study has shown that those who ate lunch while playing a computer game ended up eating more 30 minutes later, than those who had eaten their lunch with no distractions.

Previous studies have demonstrated that distractions at mealtimes lead to eating more, however this study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, went a little further, showing the effects of this distraction actually last beyond the meal.

44 volunteers were assigned to one of two groups. One group was asked to eat a set lunch while playing solitaire on a computer. The other group had the same meal, but with no distractions.Thirty minutes after their lunch, both groups took a cookie "taste test," where they could sample as much as they wanted. They were also asked to recall all nine items they'd eaten at lunch, and the order in which the foods were served. On average, the computer group ate roughly 250 calories worth of cookies, while the other group ate half as much. Also, the computer group had more difficulty remembering the order in which their lunch had been served, and reported feeling less full afterwards.

The researchers suggest computer users have a fuzzier memory of their lunch, and therefore felt less satisfied afterwards, in comparison to the control group.

Researcher Jeffrey Brunstrom, of the University of Bristol, UK, said:

We think that memory for recent meals influences the amount of food that we select and then consume at a subsequent meal... When our memory is poor, then at a subsequent meal we tend to select and consume a greater amount of food.
It's pretty obvious, but you can't possibly pay attention to what you eat and how much, when you are distracted so heavily. One of the keys to eating less at mealtimes is to eat mindfully -- you can't eat mindfully when you aren't paying attention to what your stomach is telling you.

If you are the master multi-tasker in your home, taking a break at mealtimes away from the TV and computer screen, is a new habit you should try to implement. Also, if you've got children, take note -- one U.S. study found that up to a quarter of children's calorie intake occurs in front of a TV.
So, is it time to set some new healthy goals for the incoming year, to improve your health and that of your whole family?
