Gifts that Keep on Giving

The holidays bring lots of goodies in the shape of food-based gifts. But if your weight-loss efforts are sure to suffer with chocolate, cookies and other tempting treats around the house ... what's a dieter to do? Consider these options:

Donate them to food pantry, soup kitchen in nursing home. This can be a great opportunity to treat someone else to something they wouldn't normally receive and you'll avoid overindulging.

Take them to the office so they'll be divided among a lot of people instead of solely you. Most of us will only eat one serving of something in public, so it's like automatic portion control.

Freeze candy, cookies and pastry. Simply wrap them in aluminum foil and close them up in quality freezer bags to stave off freezer burn. Thaw one at a time overnight in the fridge or microwave to enjoy them in the months to come.
